Howard Phillips Lovecraft (August 20, 1890 – March 15, 1937) was an American author of horror, fantasy, and science fiction, known then simply as weird fiction.

Ｐ．Ｓ．＃１ 이 양반을 빗대어 하는 말이 있다．빛의 톨킨（반지의 제왕）에 대응하여 어둠의 러브크래프트라고 불리운단다．이 분 작품에 등장하는 초월체들은 벌레같은 인간들의 목숨은 아랑곳않고 그저 자신들의 뜻대로 행동할 뿐이다．인간들이야 몰살당하건 말건，마치 현대 사회를 보는듯 하다．예전에 군대있을적 생각이 난다．그리고 그리던 １００일 휴가 나왔을 때，바깥세상은 내가 없음에도 너무나도 잘 굴러가고 있었던 것이다．이른바，군대다녀오면 현실적으로 변한다고들 하더니만 이런 것이구나하고 생각하게 되었지．“아，내가 없어도 세상은 이렇게 잘 돌아가는 구나．정말 난 좆밥이구나．”라고 말이야．고등학교를 졸업하고 나서 １９∼２０살때의 온갖 상념들，“세상의 중심은 나야！”―마치 광고카피같던―일련의 철없던 생각들을 무참하게 박살내버린 그 시절의 기억의 파편들．엊그제같기만 한데，어느덧 강산이 변해버렸구나∼！

 

Ｐ．Ｓ．＃２ 군대 시절 생각이 나서 덧붙이는 이야기．훈련소를 떠나서 자대배치를 받고（＇９９．１２．２１），신병시절 내무실 맨 뒷구석에서 침낭을 뒤집어쓴채，고참들이 보고있던 바깥의 대대적인 밀레니엄 카운트다운 축하행사 ＴＶ쇼를 고개만 살짝 내밀고 몰래 쳐다보던 생각이 나네．배고파서 자유시간 침낭 뒤집어 쓰고 먹다가，고참한테 걸렸지．그땐 정말 ２１세기란 절대 안올줄 알았는데 오더라구．그 다음 날 아침，그러니까 밀레니엄의 첫날부터 고참들한테 개갈굼당하고 했던，정말 나의 밀레니엄의 첫출발은 너무나도 상큼해서 잊을래야 잊을 수가 없다．그래서인지 그 시절의 유행가들은 아직도 머릿속에서 가끔씩 떠오르곤 한다．핑클의 ‘나의 왕자님께’，‘Ｗｈｉｔｅ’등등…
